Welcome to the Party, Joe. I, too, believe in freedom, but I could never be a Tea Partier or a Libertarian. Thanks to Social Security, I was able to have a decent childhood, still poor, but not in abject poverty, which supported my family after my father died in 1947 as I turned 4 & my siblings were 12, 14, & 16. In previous times, my siblings would have had to leave school to work, my mother would have been forced to take whatever work she could have found, & I might have been put up for adoption. I had the freedom to grow up w the best mother in the world, go to college & become a professional. I am profoundly grateful for that social insurance program that is now under threat.

he can, of course, join whatever party he wishes, but he is part of the reason we are in this situation. So I don't really care.

A great interview. I have been a democrat all my life because I believe in the role of government to protect people from injustice, provide the services that for profit institutions cannot perform well, and protect us all from powers that we cannot allow to run unchecked. Joe Walsh seems to be a decent human being with an intelligent, questioning mind. Welcome to the party Joe, we definitely can use your willingness and ability to fight in order to save our democracy.

Gonna say something obvious to most: real masculinity defends the defenseless, punches up not down, has compassion, and fights only on behalf of others to battle injustice or evil.

It doesn’t just lift weights and tweet in all caps and listen to Rogan and grow a beard to feel accepted by other men

I don't trust politicians who jump ship to advance their political careers just in time for an election.

Give us a few years of showing you won't pull democrats more to the right!

There are a number of different types of Libertarians. I'm a lifelong Democrat and I support the liberty of individuals, democracy, etc...There are several Democratic male politicians that aren't afraid to say what they really believe and a whole boatload of smart women who say what they believe...Stand up to the bullshit spewing out of the mouth of MAGA!!!

OMG! Trump supposedly spoke to young men and won them over! Let's be honest. Most of the men who voted for Trump did so because their Y chromosome just couldn't vote for a women, let alone a woman who was black and Asian Indian!! They were intimidated by the educated, articulate, strong woman!

Didn't Biden get the big infrastructure bill passed which would provide a lot of jobs, etc? Why isn't he getting credit for that?

I'm connecting with this conversation as a tough-love, progressive Democrat with some libertrian moments who can be fiscally conservative while socially liberal. I'm also a highly educated guy who was first in family to not only go to college but also grand school but I'm alson from blue collar roots as Irish American with most ancestors having been cops. That's a mouthfull and having said all that...I advocate consequences (tough part of tough-love) when it comes to criminal justice for repeat offenders (esp. the violent ones). When I take this stand, some Dems/Progressives pigeonhole me as regressive and maybe even racist. We have disturbing street takeovers by knuckleheads that look like we are slipping toward a Clockwork Orange society. I suggest taking away drivers licenses and these knuckleheads need to walk everywhere for 10 years. I say this since I worked weekends as a mall cop for over 17 years. I temper my hard-ass position relative to criminal justice with a demand for intensive theraputic/reorientation so that our correctional facilities actually correct persons, out reform schools actually reform persons and our mental hospitals are actually hospitals that get to the root causes.

No need to insult the democrats so much. We must defeat 47 and that must be our first goal.
